<p>Kisah perjalanan selama 2 hari &#8220;the three idiots&#8221; menyusuri seruna jalur offroad dari Pondok Pemburu &#8211; Cisadon &#8211; Rawa Gede. &#8220;Three Idiot&#8221; karena idenya dadakan dan tidak ada satupun yang tahu tracknya. dari Cisadon menuju Rawa Gede</p>
<p>Beberapa minggu lalu, tepatnya tanggal 6-7 Mei 2011 saya dan dua “maho” penggemar motor trail berkesempatan menjajal serunya garuk tanah di daerah Gunung Pancar &#8211; Sentul Bogor. Ridernya kali ini hanya terdiri dari saya, Reza “Japoo” dan Akbar. Semuanya berawal dari sebuah ”beer talk” (bukan pillow talk ya…) sewaktu kami bertiga nongkrong di 7 Eleven (mau ke beer garden ga ada duittt haha). As usual semuanya terjadi begitu saja tanpa direncanakan…setelah menghabiskan beberapa krat beer (hahaha drunken master) dan ngobrol dari utara ke selatan timur ke barat akhirnya tiba kecetus ide untuk pergi menjajal track Cisadon.</p>
<p>Antusiasme untuk pergi kesana muncul setelah Japoo dengan &#8220;lebaynya&#8221; “ngomporin” saya dan Akbar soal menantangnya track dari Cisadon menuju Rawa Gede. Japoo sebelumnya pernah mencoba beradventure ria melewati track Cisadon menuju ke Rawa Gede namun baru diawal-awal track memutuskan untuk kembali turun karena waktu yang tidak memungkin.</p>
<p>Ide tercetus di 7 Eleven sekitar jam 1 pagi dan setelah musyawarah panjang kami memutuskan untuk berangkat sekitar jam 12 siang, namun lagi-lagi karena &#8220;jam karetnya&#8221; orang Indonesia kami bertiga baru berangkat dari Taman Mini sebagai rendevouz point  jam 5 sore. Initial idea was supposed to spend a night in the jungle, that’s why saya dari rumah sudah siap dengan membawa perlengkapan seperti tenda, kompor, dan “machete” in case kita butuh untuk buka jalur.</p>
<p>Karena sudah terlalu sore, akhirnya kami memutuskan akan bermalam di pondok pemburu, lumayan lah saya jadinya tidak perlu bawa tenda. Satu hal yang juga beda dalam adventure kali ini adalah ride perdana saya menggunakan motor baru KTM EXC200. Namun justru hal ini yang bikin semuanya tambah seru. Hanya tiga rider, tidak satupun dari kami yang tau track, lupa bawa JPS, dan juga karakter motor yang belum saya pahami haha.</p>
<p>Perjalanan dari Taman Mini menuju daerah sentul bisa dibilang sudah cukup seru, Japoo membawa kami melewati jalan “kampung”, memotong jalur dari satu kampung ke kampung lain, keluar masuk sawah warga, dan menyusuri pinggir tol Jakarta- Sentul (bisa tahu aja lu Po jalan kyk gini..hebat). Track<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/223390_1970497778837_1134754227_2823722_4427577_n.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" /> tersebut pun kami hajar dengan full speed dan setelah 30 menit akhirnya kami keluar di daerah Citeurep dan tiba-tiba motor saya mati begitu saja…bleg bleg bleg..Ternyata kehabisan bensin…wuahahah baru jalan dari Taman Mini saja saya sudah kehabisan bensin. Maklum KTM ECX200 yang merupakan motor 2stroke terkenal sebagai motor dengan torsi besar namun berbanding lurus dengan konsumsi bahan bakarnya. Karena ini baru pertama kali membawa motor tersebut ke medan offroad, biar aman Akbar menyarankan untuk membawa bensin cadangan which is baru pertama kali saya membawa bensin cadangan sampe 3 botol Aqua ukuran 1.5 liter, jadi totalnya saya isi bensin sebanyak 16.5 liter (tekorrr pake pertamax gan). Sebelum melanjutkan perjalanan kami mampir untuk makan malam di rumah makan Sate PSK di daerah bukit sentul. Ternyata itu salah satu tongseng dan sate kambing yang paling enak, lumayan lebih enank daripada Sate Jono Pejompongan (loh kok jadi wisata kuliner). Tidak lupa kami pun membungkus Tongseng kambing sebagai bekal makan malam di perjalanan.<span id="more-347"></span></p>

<p><sup>Mampir untuk makan malam di Sate PSK</sup></p>
<p>Track menuju pondok pemburu dapat ditempuh melalui komplek Bukit Sentul all the way up sampe bertemu jalan menanjak yang mengarah ke daerah Gunung Pancar. Tiba-tiba saja ketika kami sedang menyusuri jalan aspal menuju kearah pondok pemburu , Japoo membanting stir ke arah jalan setapak, karena track tanah keramik dan ban motor yang belum sempet dikempeskan maka tanjakan<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/222723_1970500938916_1134754227_2823741_4822912_n.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" align="right" border="1" hspace="3" vspace="3" /> pertama ini menjadi PR buat KTM EXC200. Setelah kempesin ban sampai 3 kali akhirnya ban belakang saya mendapat sedikit traksi ke tanah keramik tersebut walapun tidak selincah Akbar ataupun Japoo. Lucunya tanjakan keramik tersebut sebenarnya hanya memotong jalur aspal tetapi di tanjakan tersebut kami memakan waktu kurang lebih hampir 30 menit hahaha. Karena waktu sudah menunjukan jam 21.30 maka berdiskusi sejenak untuk memutuskan akan bermalam naik sampai ke Pondok pemburu atau turun ke komplek Bukit Sentul dan bermalam di rumah salah satu temannya Akbar. Beruntungnya malam itu tidak hujan dan terang bulan, kami pun sempat terpana dengan pemandangan yang begitu indanya…dari atas bukit ini kami bisa melihat Namun apa serunya adventure kalo tidak bersusah ria bukan? Akhirnya kami memutuskan untuk mencoba meneruskan perjalanan menuju Pondok Pemburu yang ternyata lebih cepat dari perkiraan. Hanya kurang lebih 30 menit kami sudah tiba di Pondok Pemburu.</p>
<p>Lucunya pas sampai disana, kami teriak permisi, asalamuaikum, teh nuhun…. Ternyata pas keluar ibu-ibu bernama Doris dengan karakter orang batak (gw tau soalnya gw juga orang batak hehe). Pondok pemburu yang terletak di tengah-tengah perkebunan singkat kata memang digunakan sebagai pondokan ketika para pemburu, biasanya berburu celeng atau babi hutan, datang dari Jakarta untuk memuaskan hobby mereka akan darah hewan hiiiii….</p>
<p>Tak jauh dari pondok pemburu juga terdapat sebuah gereja yang biasa dikunjungi para jemaah dari Jakarta. Setelah ngobrol dengan Ibu Doris akhirnya beliau menawarkan kami untuk beristiharat di pondokan yang terletak di belakang pondokan utama. Pondok yang berdiri sebgaia rumah panggung tersebut terlihat baru saja selesai dibangun dimana kami bisa mencium kuatnya aroma kayu yang digunakan sebagai untuk menopang keselurahan pondok tersebut.</p>
<p>Seperti biasa, hal pertama yang kami lakukan langsung membuka semua “peralatan lenong” yang sudah basah dan mulai operasi bersih-bersih. Ternyata tidak percuma saya bawa kompor trangia, malam-<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/226197_1970501658934_1134754227_2823745_2526993_n.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" align="left" border="1" hspace="3" vspace="3" />malam kami pun menikmati secangkir kopi hangat ditengah sunyinya malam. Kami pun menghabiskan malam dengan santai, sambil menikmati beer dingin, secuil roti sobek, dan juga seisepan rokok ditengah malam yang dingin, sunyi , dan damai jauh dari hingar binger bisingnya kota Jakarta, well at least tidak sepenuhnya sunyi sih. Malam itu dihiasi symphony snoring atau &#8220;orokan&#8221; kami bertiga haha. Jam 5 pagi pun kami semua terbangun oleh dinginnya hawa udara pagi yang menyelemuti dari kaki sampai kepala. Tapi badan ini rasanya masih too lazy to get up tapi dinginnya seperti memaksa kami untuk segera beranjak keluar, setidak buat saya dan Japoo, kalo Akbar sih dia tetap tertidur pulas dengan balutan sleeping bag deuternya.</p>
<p>Ternyata paginya kami baru sadar kalo masih punya satu bungkus tongseng yang belum tersentuh. Baru kali itu saya makan sarapan pagi dengan Tongseng kambing haha…Setelah berpamitan kepada Bu Doris dan suami, sekitar  jam 10 pagi kami pun melanjutkan perjalanan dengan check point kedua yaitu desa Cisadon.</p>

<p>Perjalanan ke desa Cisadon didominasi dengan single track, sesekali kami pun sempat melewati sungai dan track dengan awesome view.  Tepat pukul 12 siang akhirnya kami keluar dari track hutan dan<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/230717_1970508859114_1134754227_2823768_8014882_n.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="left" border="2" hspace="2" vspace="2" /> menuruni single track ke lembah Cisadon. Saya sempat terkejut ketika sampai di desa Cisadon. Ketika mendengar nama desa Cisadon, gambaran saya seperti layaknya sebuah desa di daerah terpencil pegunungan, ada setidaknya belasan atau puluhan rumah. Tapi ketika kami tiba ternyata hanya ada satu rumah ditengah-tengah lembahan Cisadon. Ketika kami ngobrol dengan pemilik rumah tersebut, beliau menjelaskan di Cisadon kurang lebih hanya ada 5-8 rumah dan letaknya cukup berjauhan.</p>
<p>Satu-satunya akses untuk menuju “keramaian atau peradaban” harus melewati single track menuju Pondok pemburu atau ke Rawa gede. Dengan bekal mie instan yang kami bawa, pemilik rumah pun berkenan untuk menyiapkannya sebagai makan siang. Saya sempat takjub dengan kontrasnya anak-anak yang bermain di lembah Cisadon ini. Mereka menghabiskan waktu hanya dengan memanjat pohon dan bermain air di sungai, sangat berbeda dengan anak-anak seumuran mereka yang tingal di perkotaan.</p>

<p>Jam 1 siang kami melanjutkan perjalanan meninggalkan desa Cisadon menuju Rawa Gede. Dari Cisadon menuju Rawa gede normalnya biasa ditempuh dalam waktu 2 jam (berjalan kaki…beda halnya kalo bawa motor). Track awal meninggalkan Cisadon, kami sudah disuguhi dengan “tanjakan Naga”. Sesuai nama yang kami berikan, tanjakan tersebut meliuk-liuk bagaikan Naga dengan karakter tanah semi keramik.</p>
<p>Sesaat berhasil melewati satu tanjakan ternyata masih ada lagi tanjakan ke kiri lalu ke kanan dan terus sampai ke atas bukit. Di tanjakan ini pula ban dalam Akbar hancur lebur dan parahnya sampai-sampai stopper ban belakang juga ikut hancur. Terpaksa darurat agar ban luar tidak slip dengan velg, kami ikat velg dan ban luar menggunakan webbing, yang ternyata cukup efektif. Selama perjalanan kami sempat bertemu sejumlah siswa dari sekolah JIS (Jakarta International School) beserta sejumlah local guide and porter. Nampaknya mereka berangkat dari Rawa Gede dan akan bermalam di Cisadon. Sewaktu kami hendak berangkat dari Cisadon, pemilik rumah sempat memberikan info kalo jam 7 pagi ada 5 motor yang  juga berangkat menuju Rawa Gede. And surprisingly, kami bisa menyusul grup tersebut walau denagn perbedaan waktu start sekitar 5 jam.</p>
<p>Singkat cerita ternyata kelima motor tersebut sebenernya tidak layak untuk offroad ke jalur seperti ini,wajar saja mereka dapat kami susul walaupun dengan perbedaan waktu start sekitar 5 jam. Satu hal yang mesti diacungin 4 jempol adalah nyali dan solidaritas mereka untuk bisa go this far! Setelah mengekor rombongan tersebut kurang lebih 30 menit, kami berinisiatif untuk &#8220;minta izin&#8221; mendahului mereka, maklum dengan sempitnya single track hampir tidak mungkin untuk bisa mendahului motor lain. Dengan alasan perjalanan masih untuk pulang ke Jakarta mereka pun bersedia &#8220;menggeser&#8221; motornya agar kami bisa lewat.</p>

<p><sub><img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/230153_1970551500180_1134754227_2823885_5193966_n.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" align="right" border="2" hspace="3" vspace="3" />Perhentian selanjutnya sebelum kami tiba di Rawa Gede kami masih harus melewati desa selanjutnya yang bernama Karang Tengah. Sesaat sebelum memasuki desa Karang Tengah landscape yang pada awalnya didonimasi hutan lebat berubah menjadi areal perkebunan kopi. Namun jangan salah meski telah memasuki areal perkebunan kopi jalur menurun menuju desa Karang Tengah masih cukup sulit. Masih dengan karakter tanah keramik, downhill menjadi tantangan tersendiri. Sering kali motor kami &#8220;terjun bebas&#8221;mengikuti curamnya jalur air diantara pohon kopi. Ditengah jalur banyak sekali persimpangan jalan yang kami sama sekali tidak tahu akan mengarah kemana. Lagi-lagi Japoo dengan instingnya memilih jalan ke kiri ke kanan dan ke tengah. Pada awalnya kami sempat ragu apakah kami sudah mengambil jalur yang benar atau tidak karena bukannya jalur semakin &#8220;mudah&#8221; tapi justru malah semakin sulit. Kami sempat harus menuntun motor ketika melewati &#8220;sungai gogle&#8221; (dinamakan gogle karena di sungai ini saya kehilangan gogle saya yang hilang terbawa arus sungai). Akhirnya setelah menuntun motor satu per satu melewati sungai tersebut akhirnya kami mulai bisa melihat lampu-lampu yang berada di rumah penduduk. </sub></p>
<p><sub>Akhirnya kami tiba juga di desa Karang Tengah sekitar jam 17.30. Ada satu sungai yang sangat menggoda untuk dinikmati namun sayang kami tiba disungai tersebut sudah terlalu sore sehingga bukan ide yang bagus untuk mandi mandi di sungai. Karena tidak satu pun dari kami yang tidak tahu seberapa jauh dari Karang Tengah ke Rawa Gede maka kami berhenti sejenak dan bertanya kepada beberapa warga setempat agar dapat memprediksi persedian bensin dan juga stock air minum. Setelah bermusyawarah akhirnya kami memutuskan untuk melanjutkan perjalanan menuju Rawa Gede dan lagi lagi kami mesti melewati sungai dengan jembatan kayu ala kadarnya. Ketika melewati sungai ini KTM sempat terjun bebas ke sungai sedalam kuran lebih 2 meter. </sub></p>
<p><sub>Butuh waktu kurang lebih 20 menit bagi kami bertiga untuk menarik motor keluar dari sungai. Ketika melihat jam ternyata waktu menunjukkan pukul 18.30&#8230;ohhh pantesan! magrib-magrib masi maen motor sih. Akhirnya sambil menunggu magrib selesai kami istirahat sambil saya mengecek keadaan motor dan untungnya tidak ada kerusakan apapun. Perjalanan dilanjutkan masih melewati perkebunan kopi dan setelah ride selama 1 jam akhirnya kami berhasil keluar dari perkebunan kopi dan bisa melihat peradaban di kejauhan. Perjalanan langsung kami lanjutkan menuju jakarta untuk makan malam dengan seafood. In overall perjalanan ke Rawa Gede via Cisadon sungguh berkesan. Sangat menantang apalagi hanya kami bertiga dan tidak ada yang mengetahui track sehingga membuat segalana unexpected. </sub></p>
<p><sub>Mudah-mudahn saya dan teman-teman bisa kembali lagi ke cisadon dan bisa membawa sedikit sumbangan kepada anak-anak yang tinggal di Cisadon. Salam Trail Adventure. </sub></p>

<p>Kisah perjalanan selama 4 hari bersama pecinta offroad roda dua dari Jakarta menuju Ciptagelar. Perjalanan yang penuh kesan, pesan, dan kepuasan untuk memenuhi tuntutan jiwa ber-adventure ria!</p>
<p>Pada September 2010 saya dan teman-teman pecinta garuk tanah (offroad) roda dua berkesempatan untuk mengunjungi kediaman seorang tetua yang bernama Abah Ugi, tetua dari Kasepuhan Ciptagelar yang berlokasi di daerah Jawa Barat tepatnya di pegunungan Halimun-Salak antara perbatasan Bogor, Banten, dan Sukabumi. Mungkin nama Abah Ugi, atau mungkin lebih kenal dengan sebutan Abah Anom yang merupakan ayah dari Abah Ugi, sudah tidak asing lagi terutama bagi kawan-kawan backpacker yang suka main-main ke daerah Jawa Barat ataupun teman-teman yang tertarik dengan cultural experience ketika melakukan backpacking.</p>
<p>Cerita kali, ini saya tidak akan membicarakan lebih lanjut mengenai keunikan dari Kasepuhan Ciptagelar melainkan kisah petualangan bersama teman-teman pecinta olahraga offroad khususnya penggaruk tanah roda dua. Yah tapi sebelum saya lebih jauh membicarakan mengenai petualangan yang dialami 10 pengendara motor trail, yang kemudian berkurang menjadi 8 motor, mungkin ada baiknya saya akan mencoba memberikan ulasan singkat mengenai siapakah Abah Ugi dan apakah Kasepuhan Ciptagelar itu? Kenapa dengan susah payahnya kami berusaha mencapai tempat ini.</p>
<p>Kasepuhan Ciptagelar terletak di sudut perbukitan dari Taman Nasional Gede Pangrango yang<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9140243%284%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" align="right" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />  juga berbatasan dengan Kabupaten Pelabuhan Ratu, Banten, dan juga Bogor. Unik memang kampung yang kurang lebih seluas hanya 5 hektar ternyata dibagi menjadi 3 daerah administratif yang berbeda. Hmm saya penasaran bagaimana ribetnya urus KTP atau ketika saatnya pemilu? Mungkin sebagian besar masyarakat di luar Kasepuhan Ciptagelar mengenal tetua tempat ini sebagai Abah Anom. Mungkin hal ini disebabkan tetua kasepuhan sebelumnya yang bernama Abah Anom yang konon sedemikian terkenalnya karena karisma dan juga pemikirannya, mampu menjadikan Kasepuhan Ciptagelar sebagai salah satu kampung di daerah Jawa Barat yang dengan uniknya masih menganut cara-cara traditional dengan sedemikian kentalnya. Ketika kunjungan kami kesana September lalu, kami berkesempatan bertemu dengan Abah Ugi yang merupakan penerus dari Abah Anom. Jika dilihat dari umurnya Abah Ugi ini bisa dibilang tergolong cukup muda, mungkin sekitar 27 tahun, terutama jika dibandingkan antara peran dan tanggung jawab yang mesti diembannya. Dengan lebih dari ratusan kepala keluarga yang dipimpinnya, Abah Ugi seperti menjadi presiden di kasepuhan ini.<span id="more-339"></span></p>
<p>Konon katanya masyarakat yang tinggal di kasepuhan ini merupakan keturunan dari prabu siliwangi. Kini Abah Ugi merupakan tokoh sentral dalam kehidupan masyakarat kasepuhan ciptagelar dengan didamping Emak, Istri dari Abah Ugi yang sedemikian ayu-nya. Untuk mencapai desa Ciptagelar ini dapat ditempuh melalui pelabuhan ratu menuju arah Cisolok yang kemudian dilanjutkan melalui jalan berbatu atau makadam melalui desa Ciptarasa. Untuk melalui jalan ini pun dibutuhkan mobil dengan high ground clearance dan akan lebih baik jika menggunakan four wheel drive. Nah yang baru saya sebutkan itu merupakan jalur konvensional untuk mencapai ciptagelar, ada satu jalur lagi yang lebih “seru” untuk dilalui terutama bagi penggemar motor enduro.</p>
<p>Jalur ini merupakan jalan setapak yang sudah sejak lama digunakan para warga untuk “turun gunung” menuju desa Pemempeuk- Bogor. Jalan ini membelah lebatnya hutan Taman Nasional Halimun dan naik turunnya kontur pegunungan bisa dibilang jalan setapak ini sudah mirip seperti jalur-jalur pendakian yang biasa kita temui ketika kita mendaki gunung Salak, Gede ataupun gunung lainnya di Jawa Barat. Untuk jalan kaki saja, terutama di musim penghujan, jalur terbilang cukup sulit untuk dilalui dengan karakteristik tanah liat merah yang ketika terkena air hujan degan seketika akan menjadi tanah keramik atau arena seluncur bebas. Di kalangan teman-teman penggemar trail, jalur ini terkenal akan unsur kejutannya. Dengan stigma sebagai jalur yang dapat ditempuh hanya dengan waktu 3 jam (dengan catatan kondisi jalur, motor, dan juga rider) ataupun bisa dalam waktu 3 hari, jalur ini selalu siap menyambut offroader dengan kejutannya.</p>
<p>Berapa lama jarak tempuh sepenuh dipengaruhi oleh nasib, kerja sama tim, kondisi motor, ijin dari penunggu hutan setempat (hiii seremmmm!!!), dan yang paling penting doa restu orang tua, pacar ataupun istri. Ide untuk memilih jalur ini muncul melalui pembicaraan di tongkorang nasi uduk Bang Cucum yang terletak di daerah Fatmawati (jadi pengen makan semur jengkolnya Bang Cucum..ajibb!!!).<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9120005%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="right" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" /> Setelah berembuk sekian lama (maklum orang Indonesia kan kebanyak musyawarah haha) dan bolak balik pergantian personil boy band, eh personil enduro akhirnya kami berangkat menuju Bogor Rabu siang dengan Point Square Lebak Bulus sebagai rendevouz point.  Personal yang berangkat terdiri dari James, Ridwan, Reza Jappoo, Galih, Chandra Restu, Teddy, Joko, Ahmad, dan Rojali.  Dengan kebiasaan jam karet orang Indonesia yang semula rencana mau berangkat jam 7 pagi dari lebak bulus akhirnya terpaksa molor menjadi jam 10 pagi.</p>
<p>Setelah on road (ohh I hate on road!!) hampir 2 jam akhirnya jam makan siang kita sudah tiba di daerah perkebunan Cianten bogor dengan karakter jalan makadamnya. Alangkah senangnya kita semua ketika sudah dapat melihat areal perhutananan di sekitar desa Pamempeuk. Kita pun tidak lupa untuk memuaskan tangki motor yang kehausan dengan bensin premium di penjual bensin eceran. Seperti biasa tidak afdol <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9120009.JPG" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="left" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />rasanya main trail jika tidak “ngebanyol” atau saling “ejek” sesama rider lain selama perjalanan namun ternyata “be careful of what you wish for especially when you play with mother nature”. Satu hal yang unik adalah ketika warga setempat mendengar raungan motor-motor trail yang akan memasuki hutan Pemempeuk, sebagian warga akan segera stand by di awal-awal jalur lintasan menawarkan jasa tarik dan tentunya tidak gratis! Rata-rata mereka bisanya charge harga untuk jasa tarik atau joki per motor mulai dari 50 ribu sampai dengan 300 ribu. Semua tergantung kondisi trek hujan atau tidak, seberapa jauh mereka harus membantu, tipe motor yang kita gunakan, dan tentunya negotiation skill para rider haha. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9120011%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />   Senengnya masuk jalur tanah menuju hutan gunung Halimun <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9120024%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />  Bebek trail warga setempat untuk membantu mencari kayu bakar etc.. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9120053.JPG" alt="" width="300" height="225" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />  Trek awal masih cukup terkendali untuk dipacu dengan high speed    Sudah pasti menggunakan joki ataupun jasa tarik motor merupakan gengsi terbesar seorang rider tapi khusus pada kesempatan ini ada kalanya seorang rider mesti dengan pahitnya menelan rasa gengsi. Trek awalnya masih kering sehingga kami pun masih bisa melaluinya tanpa halangan<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9120061%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="right" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" /> berarti bahkan saya pun sesekali masih bisa melalui dengan kecepatan tinggi, gaspol gan!! Entah karena ada yang belum mandi, atau ada yang buang air kecil sembarangan, atau karena doa dari warga setempat akhirnya setelah menempuh kurang dari ¼ trek hujan mulai turun dengan lebatnya. Hal ini membalik keadaan dari skor 1-1 untuk rider menjadi 5-1 untuk Halimun! Jalan dengan cepatnya berubah menjadi jalur air dan tanah liat pun berubah selicin keramik. Tanpa diduga, motor Rojali mengalami kerusakan yang cukup fatal. Akhirnya James dan Galih membuka bengkel dadakan di jalur Halimun pemempeuk tersebut. Setelah mencoba kutak katik selama lebih dari 2 jam tanpa membuahkan hasil akhirnya kami memutuskan untuk bermalam di tengah-tengah lebatnya pengunungan Halimun.</p>
<p>Bekal kami pada waktu itu untuk bermalam di hutan hanya lah kebersamaan sesama rider (haha lebayyy!!!!) seperti kata Kaka dan Bim Bim makan ga makan asal kumpul! Untungnya masih ada warga setempat yang bertahan di sekitar jalur berharap kami menggunakan jasa mereka untuk bantuan darurat. Nampaknya mereka sudah tahu jika keadaan akan segera hujan, jadi mereka memutuskan untuk menunggu saja ketika para rider berjatuhan ketika mencoba melawan kekuatan alam! Kami memutuskan untuk bermalam tidak terlalu jauh dari sungai in case kami membutuhkan air akan mudah untuk menemukannya tetapi tidak terlalu dekat! Ingat aturan dasar survival?</p>
<p>Jangan bermalam terlalu dekat dengan sungai karena dua alasan sederhana : Banjir bandang di tengah malam dan juga sumber air minum bagi hewan-hewan! Tanpa bekal matras, makanan, dan air secukupnya kami terpaksa mendirikan base camp darurat.  Warga setempat atau Emang yang kami jumpai, kami minta untuk turun kembali ke desa terdekat untuk mencarikan kami air minum, makanan, dan juga pastinya rokok dan kopi! Dengan uang sekitar 300 ribu dan 4 jam kemudian, akhirnya mereka kembali dengan perbekalan logistik untuk membantu kami melawati malam pertama di hutan. Oia ini baru malem pertama loh! Ga nyangka kalo kita akan kena malem selanjutnya di hutan!</p>

<p>Inilah villa kami ketika bermalam di gunung Halimun Keesokan paginya kami terbangun dengan perut masuk angin, badan menggigil, dan jari tangan dan kaki serba keriput karena terlalu lama berada di kelembapan. Bagi Rojali, dengan disayangkan dia harus turun gunung dikarena k<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9130140%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="right" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />erusakan motornya yang tidak mungkin untuk diperbaiki. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9130140%281%29.jpg" alt="" /></p>
<p>Dengan dikawal warga setempat, Rojali jalan meninggalkan kami semua dengan kepala tertunduk seperti seorang finalis Indonesia Idol yang dieliminasi. Bye Rojali, coba lagi tahun depan! Uppss kayak SPMB aja. Dengan semangat membabi buta babibu kami “pull the throttle all the way and push the adrenaline” tapi saying hal itu hanya bertahan selama beberapa menit saja. Lagi-lagi parahnya jalur tidak memungkinkan kami untuk memaksa motor melaju dengan cepat.</p>
<p>Dalamnya jalur air di tengah trek sangat menyulitkan untuk bisa melaluinya tanpa bantuan ditarik atau pun di dorong sesama rider ataupun bantuan Emang setempat. Belum lagi banyak pohon tumbang disepanjang jalan yang terkadang kami pun sempat berpikir jangan-jangan ada pohon yang sengaja di tumbangkan oleh warga setempat yang jahil dengan harapan akan menyulitkan rider sehingga mereka bisa mendapatkan “proyek” jasa tarik trail (hush jadi negatif gini pikirannya). Bahkan ketika saya di depan pun saya sempat nyaris tertimpa pohon besar yang tumbang, jika saya maju lebih cepat 1 menit saja sudah pasti mungkin sekarang saya ga bisa nulis kisah ini. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9130229%281%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" /> Nyaris tertimpa pohon tumbang</p>

<p>Beda sungai, beda orang yang jatuh haha. Estimasi kami pada hari kedua sudah bisa tiba di tempat Abah sekitar jam 6 sore ternyata lagi-lagi alam berkata lain. Pada siang hari, hujan kembali mengguyur trek sehingga benar-benar<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9130198%281%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="400" align="right" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" /> menguras tenaga untuk bisa melalui trek dengan lancar.  Tapi sesuai prinsip “its not about the destination but its all about the journey” jadi kami tidak perduli berapa lama waktu dan tenaga yang akan kami butuhkan. “Just try to live the moment and not too worry about the rest”. “Trust your bike, trust your fellow riders and everything will be alright” (just like Bob Marley)!  Setelah melewati sungai, berbagai macam pohon tumbang , dalamnya cerukan jalur air, dinginnya baju basah, dan perut lapar akhirnya kami bisa melalui tanjakan terakhir, well at least sih begitu katanya.</p>
<p>Ternyata setelah melalui tanjakan tersebut masih ada lagi tanjakan terakhir, terakhir, dan terakhir. Karena cape “dibohongi” jalur, yang bisa kami lakukan hanya pasrah dan maju terus pantang mundur. AKhirnya sekitar jam 6 sore kami bisa melalui tanjakan terakhir, dimana awalnya target kami jam 6 sudah bisa sampai di tempat Abah dan menengguk segelas kopi tubruk panas.</p>
<p>Tetapi petualangan belum berakhir disana, jalan selanjutnya adalah turunan tajam dengan licinnya jalan keramik. Salah satu rider yang cukup kesulitan melalui trek ini adalah Bung Reza “Japoo” karena kedua rem depan dan belakangnya tidak bisa berfungsi jadi terpaksa meredam laju mesin menggunakan “engine break” dan teknik tingkat tinggi yaitu rem manual pakai kaki. Bahkan saya pun yang dengan kondisi rem masih bagus sering kali terhentak dari motor karena melaju free fall dan seringkali kerasa kalau “testis” suka “melejit” ihh seremmmmm!</p>

<p>Akhirnya melewati tanjakan terakhir. From now on is long way down  Akhirnya sekitar jam 8 malem kami bisa keluar dari lebatnya hutan Halimun dan melewati areal perkebunan warga setempat.</p>
<p>Sebelumnya kami mesti melewati makan Abah Anom, makam keramat bagi warga kasepuhan, tapi sebelumnya kami masih harus menempuh tanjakan terakhir. Yupp masih ada tanjakan! Setelah semua rider berkumpul di makan Abah, dan tidak lupa “permisi” kepada Almarhum kami pun melanjutkan perjalanan menuju Imah gede atau juga disebut sebagai Rumah Besar. Hal yang membuat saya begitu takjub ialah keramahan dari warga kasepuhan Ciptagelar dan juga para “pegawai” yang berada di Imah Gede. Sesaat kami tiba di rumah Abah, keluar salah satu pembantu dari Abah dan tanpa basa-basi atau apapun mereka segera menyiapkan teh manis hangat dan beberapa cemilan. Setelah semuanya selesai bersih-bersih dan mandi, kami disuguhkan dengan salah satu hidangan makan malam terenak yang pernah saya makan.</p>
<p>Bayangkan setelah lebih dari 30 jam di dalam hutan dengan makan ala kadarnya, sekarang kami disuguhkan opor ayam, ikan mujair, sambal terasi, sayuran segar, kerupuk ikan,  dan tidak lupa pisang sebagai penutup. Pada malam itu sayangnya kami tidak bisa bertemu dengan Abah Ugi karena beliau masih sibuk mengurusi urusan kasepuhan tetapi kami sempat bertemu dengan Emang yang saya lupa namanya, salah satu “tangan kanan” dari Abah. Kami pun dengan asiknya bicara mulai dari masalah kasepuhan, taman nasional, hobby offroad, bahkan sampai masalah jodoh haha. Namun sayang karena kami semua begitu letih, semua tertidur pulas ketika Mang yang saya lupa namanya masih dengan semangatnya menjelaskan asal usul dari kasepuhan.</p>
<p>Keesokan harinya, kami bangun dengan badan serasa remuk, semua pergelan terasa mau<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9140250%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="right" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" /> terpisah, dan memar-memar hampir di setiap persendian. Kami sempat di undang untuk melihat dapur Imah gede yang merupakan semacam dapur umum yang selalu beroperasi hampir 24 jam non stop. Kami bertemu dengan Emak, istri dari Abah Ugi, dan jujur kami tidak pernah menyangka akan bisa melihat seorang wanita yang berasal dari desa yang begitu jauh dan “terpencil” namun penuh dengan karisma seorang ibu rumah tangga, kecantikan alami, dan ketulusan yang begitu murni.</p>
<p>Tanpa sadar kami semua pun terpesona dengan kualitas seorang Emak (ngeces ces cess..), istri dari Abah Ugi. Sebelum kami siap siap untuk melanjutkan perjalan menuju pelabuhan ratu dimana kemudian akan dilanjutkan dengan menyewa truk menuju Jakarta, Abah Ugi sempat meluangkan waktu untuk sejenak berkenalan dengan kami dan befoto ria. Tidak lupa kami pun memperoleh souvenir khas <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/P9140260%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" align="left" border="1" hspace="2" vspace="2" />dari ciptagelar yaitu gelang dari tanaman yang langsung di anyam di tangan kita.</p>
<p>Ini menjadi salah satu cindremata dan juga “sertifikat” telah lulus  melalui jalur gunung Halimun. Jalur Pemempeuk – Ciptagelar memang tergolong jalur yang “sakit” terutama jika dimusim penghujan. Dibutuhkan kerja sama team, kondisi fisik dan mental yang prima, kondisi motor, dan juga doa restu ibu di rumah .</p>
<p>Ada dua dampak yang bisa ditimbulkan dari jalur ini: kapok atau ketagihan. Bagi saya pribadi, hmm bisa nebak mungkin apa dampaknya bagi saya. Dua minggu kemudian saya kembali lagi ke Halimun dengan team yang berbeda dan tentunya dengan kisah yang berbeda. <p>Experience during Holi festival or Festival of Color in Varanasi India.</p>
<p>If you ever get a chance to travel to India, for sure you don’t want to missed one of their festival. India with its strongly rooted Hinduism probably one of the country in the world that have so many festival trough out the year. In a year, India could have more than 150 festivals with the biggest festival probably the Khumbu Mela where more than 20 million Hindus gather during the event. There are also Diwali festival that marked Hindu new year and  not to forget Ganesh Chaturthi festival which celebrate the birth of Hindu elephant headed God – Ganesha however one of the most vibrantly colorful festival is the Holi .</p>
<p>I come to visit India in March as it was the month of Holi Festival and there is no better place to celebrate Holi in Varanasi. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0328.JPG" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />For many years many people and especially traveler consider Varanasi as the place that held Holi unlike any other place. Well at least that what I was expected. I leave Kolkata a bit early to avoid any hassle on finding some hotel in Varanasi as there will be a lot of tourist flock in the city for the festival also the facts that I get really bored in Kolkata. After taking a 12 hours train from Kolkata I finally reach Varanasi and it was 6 days before the festival so I have no problem on finding a room plus I got a plenty of time to roam around the city. I end up stayed in one of the guest house called Baba Lorak, with its super dooper annoying manager that was located closely to the Ganges. <span id="more-332"></span></p>
<p>Now if we talk about Varanasi, it’s one of the most holy cities in India with its sacred Ganges that run through the city. In old days, Varanasi also known as Benares or City of Life so if it’s the first time you step your foot in one of the chaotic bus terminal or train station don’t confuse if you find some sign that said Benares. With its well reputation as the most sacred city in India then I must say I’m in the right city to experience Holi.<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0347.JPG" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="left" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" /></p>
<p>Before I talk any further regarding my Holi experience, first I’m gonna give you a little background about what is Holi so you’ll understand my initial expectation when coming to Varanasi. Holi Festival or also known as Color Festival is a spring festival that celebrated by the Hindus all over the world by celebrating a triumph of “good” vs “evil” by throwing colored powder and colored water to each other.  Probably almost similar as the one that we had for Moslem which is Idul Fitri. During the Holi eve people will start a bonfire at midnight that marked the day of Holi, in some places it’s also start with drinking some Bhang or Indian local alcohol that made out of rice. In the morning the celebration will start as people throwing colored powder and colored water to everyone. Kids will shoot everyone and also everything which also means their sacred cow. There are 5 main colors that people usually used. Green that represent vitality, red as purity, yellow as religious feeling and blue as calm and sedateness.  At mid day, once everyone are full with colors they will go to the Ganges to cleansed them self from all the color before they entitle to wear brand new clothes as a sign of good triumph over evil.</p>

<p>With these in minds, I was imagine that Holi would be a very fun experience that full of laugh and where everyone will splash each other with an ambience that totality represent a festival which unfortunately a bit different as what I imagine. Perhaps my experience will be different with others traveler, maybe I was in the wrong place and wrong time during the festival so I experience something different compare to others. One of the most interesting facts is that during the night of Holi, most guest house and hotel urge the guest not to come out to the street or to Ganges during the Holi because it will be very risky, especially for female. They recommend coming out and walking around in the afternoon when everyone had their bath in the Ganges. For me it was very silly, I mean the reason I come to Varanasi and wait for almost 1 week is to experience the Holi. It’s not making any sense during the Holi for us to sit around doing nothing while people are having so much fun on the street. Well apparently again I have a different perception of Holi then what it’s actually is.</p>
<p>The next morning we went out from our guest house around 8AM and again our supper dooperr annoying guest house manager tell us not to go out to the street. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0036.JPG" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />Dressed all white, we walk to the street with the intention to get colored. Oh by the way during the festival Axel and I wear our shoes because some guy told us during festival usually there will a lot of Cow shit and human shit on the street so it will be wise not to wear a flip flop. As we walk a 100 meter from our guest house it was really nice some kids throw colored powder and colored water from the roof top and our white t shirt turn completely into red, blue and green color in a matter of second. However the scene changes completely as we walk toward the main street. There were not so many people especially kids and elderly on the street. Mostly the streets are filled with groups of teenagers and young adult hang around the corner. And as we walk further down town we can feel a completely different atmosphere, not the one that I expected.</p>
<p>Everywhere you walk, all these group of guys try to pick a fight you.  <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0022%284%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />I can tell what is a joke or just a teasing around and what a sign to find some trouble whereas all these guys trying to test your nerve and wait for you to make a move so they can start to kick your ass. At first I thought I was in the wrong places and wrong time so we walked away from this area and move further toward the down town. Again I was so frustrated by the scene, atmosphere, and the ambience that we felt. It’s not a fun, colorful, and cheeky atmosphere where people are laugh and have fun. It was a gangster ambience, thugs to thugs situation, where everyone are out of control because of the alcohol. We walked on the main street for an hour’s when we realized that apparently we were the only foreigner or tourist that walked around the main street. As we decide to walk inside the alley hoping that things will be different but again we were disappointed. We expect everything would be so vibrant and alive during the festival but rather we felt like walking in the middle of the ghetto, well probably ghetto is an extreme expression, with all eyes watching and wait for a chance to fxxx you up!</p>
<p>It appears that most tourists watch the festival from their hotel or guest house rooftop rather than down to the street. There were few tourist that also walk but if you compare to all the tourist that were in Varanasi it was like  5 % of the total tourist and there were no female on the street! As we decide to go back to our guest house we were really surprise of what we saw.<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0021.JPG" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="left" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" /> There were a Japanese girl ride a motorbike with some local guy and as they try to ride pass through a group of people that hang around the street, one of the guy try to stop the bike. It was a group of 5-7 people and they blocked the road while trying to push the driver off the bike and as the same time try to harass the Japanese girl. I mean it was the last thing that I could ever imagine could happen during Holi festival. At that time we were disappointed by the facts of how it goes.</p>

<p>As we get to our guest house we met some locals that live near our guest house that we used to spent time hang out with. There was one guy that we called as Mr. Varanasi because He’s in fact won a body builder competition and crown as Mr.Varanasi. When we met them they were about to take a bath at the middle of the Ganges to clean all the colored. So we hop in into the boat and as we reach to the other end of the river all of them just jump off from the boat and then take a bath in the Ganges. Everyone start to scream saying come on jump! Let’s take a bath with us! I mean it will be very nice with all these color stick in your hair, faces, skins and cloths and also with the heat, just to jump to a river. But it was the notorious Ganges for foreigner. It still takes me a lot time to think to jump into the Ganges. In honoring the boys we make up an excuse that we haven’t take any picture of ourselves and it will be too bad if we don’t have any picture of ourselves covered in all these color.</p>
<p>It took me almost one week just to get rid of all the colors. Some part even more difficult, especially if you get hits with Red color.  From all that happen during Holi,I was dissatisfied with what I experienced. I have waited for 1 week for the festival and it turn out completely the opposite. Other people might take this experience differently. Maybe I was just in a wrong places and wrong time of this Holi but if you ever get a change to come to India make sure you get a chance to experience one of their festival.</p>

<p>For those of you that plan to experienced Holi in Varanasi, here are some tips that might come in handy:</p>
<ul>
<li>If possible to celebrate Holi with the locals. Its not a bad idea to meet some local a day before and join them not only it will be safer but also to experienced the local ways.</li>
<li>Dress all white and wear really strong short and nice underwear, especially for guys, as most people will try to torn your t-shirt.</li>
<li>For photographer, if your camera is insured then it’s OK to walk around the city with camera worth $1500 among drunker. Not to forget to put some waterproof case or you can be creative to made one out of a plastic bag. If down on the street you feel a bit too risky, then a day before you can look around a hotel with nice rooftop where you can shoot from on top.</li>
<li>For girls, never ever go out alone. Always accompany with some men. Find some guys with nice muscle and find more then 1. For example I walk around the city with my friend Axel and He’s a kick boxer!</li>
<li>Once the festival finished, as soon as possible to rinse all the color. Don’t spend too long to have it dry otherwise you’ll end up have that color in your face for a whole week. Also I would recommend rinsing it in the Ganges. It’s up to you though.</li>
<li>And lastly, no matter what happen and no matter what you experience just keep on put a smile in your face. It’s not about the end result of what you experienced but rather about how you experienced it.</li>

<p>Story when My brother and I climb mount Rinjani just one day after Idul Fitri.</p>
<p>Nope this is not a story about brothers on the mountain that broadcasted on Nat Geo Adventure Channel but is about my trip with my brothers to climb Mt.Rinjani. Though it will be really awesome if we can appear in one of Nat Geo shows (ngarep mode on). For sure anyone who loves mountain, definitely will put Mt. Rinjani amongst their top climbing peak. My brother and I been dreaming so long to climb this mountain. Everyone that ever been up there always said that its one of the most beautiful mountain in Indonesia.</p>
<p>For anyone that ain’t quiet familiar with the mountain here are bit info regarding the mountain. Mountain Rinjani located in Lombok is the second highest volcanic mountain in Indonesia that reaches up to 3726 meter above sea level. Nowadays , <img class="alignleft" style="border:1px solid black;margin:5px;" src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_9136%283%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />Mt. Rinjani is part of Mt. Rinjani National Park that was established since 1997. One of the main attractions from this mountain beside the peak is Segara Anak Lake. Well if you want to more about the detail you can easily google it.<span id="more-317"></span></p>
<p>Anyway, me and my brother decide to go there just one day after we celebrate Idul Fitri. I remember that morning, while most of the people still visiting their neighbor or relative, we were loading our backpack to a taxi to go to the airport. We leave home in the morning to catch our 11.00 AM plane and since its Idul Fitri so we have a plenty of cakes, pastries, and some other snacks so for sure our mother gives us some supplied for  our time in the mountain  some stuff such as Nastar cookie and peanuts hahaha which we finish it all up on the plane hehe sorry mom. Just before we touch down in Selaparang Airport (Lombok Airport) we can get a glimpse of the mountain with its magnificent  peak that goes trough the clouds.</p>

<p>After filled our hungry stomach with some lunch we take a bus to Sembalun Village which is a starting point to climb the mountain. There are two route that we can use to climb the mountain. Sembalun which dominated by vast savanna landscape and Senaru which a dense rain forrest almost similar like any rain forrest in Java. We reach the last town around 7PM and by that time there were no public transportation that goes up to the village therefore we need to hitchhike some mini pick that normally used to carry vegetables from the nearest farm. Finally we arrive at the village around 10PM and surprisingly I meet with a group from Jakarta that was lead by Handoko, my friend from Jakarta.</p>
<p>Its funny we always bump each other in the wild where the last time we met was in Ujung Kulon national Park. After drink some coffee we decide its time to hits the mattress and get some sleep. We spent the night in a very simple house, which look more like a hut if I must say, belong to one of the villager that we meet in the registration office. He was really nice and when got inside his house, his wife cooked us some dinner. I feel so bad because He always keep on saying sorry for the condition of his house. We were thinking that if we want some nice bed and nice house then why bother going so far away from our home. This is the kind of experience that looking for.</p>
<p>The next morning we woke up after all the dogs that keep on barking and chicken that keep on screaming.. The sleeping bag that we have works really well against the cold night so we had  a really good sleep. I went to the back of the house where the bathroom is, and as I see outside the view was just awesome. Right behind the house we can see the mountain with clouds covered the top. It was the best view that we can possible expect in the morning.</p>

<p>After had some breakfast and paid some entrance fee to the park ranger (which was only Rp.5000 for local and Rp.150.000 for foreigners) we start the climb passing through some villages. Strangely, after 10 minutes walking I had a really bad headache and nausea. I was quit surprise because it was only around 1.200 above sea level so altitude sickness is less likely causing this headache. My brother was just laughing when I said I need a break, he said that we only walk for 10 minutes and you need a break? “Ohh probably it’s because now you getting old” He said.</p>
<p>Having the urge to defend my pride and dignity, then I push my self to continue walking and after 15 minutes the headache finally goes away. As we walk further up in the mountain we pass some local porter that carrying stuff that weight more then 30kg or some even could reach up to 70 kg while I try to keep my weight as minimum as possible. Not because I can not carry that much <img src='http://s0.wp.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  but rather because I’m trying to adopt the Ultralight Hiking methods.. Usually the porter charge around 70-150.000 per day, while for foreigners they could charge up to 200.000. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_9208%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />We stop for lunch at some river bank that completely dry, filled with volcanic rocks, the river seem to be a lava stream when the mountain erupt. Now the problem is who’s going to prepare the lunch? Because at home, my brother was sooo lazy that he always asked for someone else to get things done for Him. After long negotiation we finally agree that its His turn to prepare the lunch while I’ll do the cleaning. After lunch we got struck by a famous disease that used to have by Indonesian, which is sleepy syndrome.</p>

<p>After get some short nap, we continue my our way up to the base camp. Along the way we met some foreigner and their porter. As we walk higher, we can see the town below and the summit on top, what a contrast scenery. We arrive at the base camp on time around 5PM, just enough time to set up the tent, boiled some water for hot tea, and then sat on the ridge on top of the lake to enjoy the sunset. And again, we had another longggg discussion about who’s going to get the water, set up the tent, boiled the water, etc…</p>

<p>At night, the wind was so strong that we find it a bit difficult to get some sleep because the tent keep on making this strange and funny noise, the trees get blown by the wind sometime touch our tents as if someone scratching on out tents. At first we plan to go for the summit attack by 1PM but we only succeed to woke up by 2PM and apparently we were the only one that start to hike this early. After walk for more then 2 hours on a pitch black, cold temperature and strong wind finally, it really taking its toll, its completely drain our energy especially my brother that have an asthma. Ever since he was a kid,my brother have a mild asthma but he always push him self by doing active lifestyle such as practicing soccer and climbing. But when we  hike for the summit, it really the hardest time for him. He keep on taking a break and rest every 5 or 10 minutes.</p>
<p>The cold temperature and the thin air really make it hard for him to breath.  This is also a test for us as brother, born as the youngest in our family, he always treated special by our mom, but I never expected that he will be so spoiled when we climb the mountain. I mean this is not the first time he hike but this time he make everything so difficult. After more then 1 hours, its finally get on my nerve. I get really upset and said that He just lying about his asthma. Its just an excuse that he made up to get some rest. I was keep on shouting and pushed him to keep on walking. Eventually other climber that start the summit attack after us finally catching up. After seen on his expression, I finally  believe that he  really having difficulty on breathing. His face were turn blue and his breathing was short. And then he said a words that really strike me. He said that “I think I’m gonna die here”. I was really panic when he said that.</p>
<p>It was just the two of us up in the mountain in pitch black. It was the scariest time in my life that I thought am gonna loose him. So we decide to get some rest. After 30 minutes  resting he finally able to breath normal and then we continue to hike for the summit. Finally we reach the summit at 5.30AM and it took us more then  3 hours to reach the summit. We where a bit disappointed when we reach the summit because we can’t see anything. The summit where cover with mist and we only spend like 5 minutes in the summit because the strong wind and chill temperature. Well at least both of us make it to summit and not die along the way.</p>

<p>In the morning after get some breakfast we pack our stuff and continue to descent to Segara Anak where we will spent 1 more night near the lake.At night it was a unique sensation as we saw start above our heads and across the lake the Mt.Baru Jari spilled its red lava.</p>

<p>The next morning we need to climb up toward the western ridge to go to Senaru route where we will make our decend. We finally reach down in Senaru entrance around 2PM and after grab a Coke we start to find some transportation to the nearest bus terminal to catch a ferry to Bali. We met two girls from US along the way that also plan to go to Bali. So we share a cab to go to the Harbor and unfortunatly we arrive in Kuta at 4Am so we get stranded till the hotel are open.</p>

<p>Climbing to Mt.Rinjani was a lifetime experience and this is one of the mountain that made me want to go back. As for climbing with my brother, it really made us know each other much better  especially to realize how spoiled He is haha.</p>

<p>The first city that I visit in India after on a 20 hour bus ride from Nepal to India and strangely I still felt that I was in Nepal instead of India.</p>
<p>Actually I never thought that Darjeeling will be the first place that I will visit in India. Most traveller probably use Delhi, Mombay, or even Kolkata or other major cities as the starting  the points. The reason I choose Darjeeling for my first stop because I cross border overland to India from Karkhabita, Nepal after I spend a couple of days at Chitwan National Park. Crossing from Karkhabita to India takes a more than 20 hours bus ride and when I said a bus ride I mean literally “bus”.</p>
<p>An old bus that probably more then half century old and filled with local people standing, lift their legs on top off the seat simply because there no more room after they filled up the floor with bigs luggages and stuff, smell of sweats and arm pits was the common scent. Usually I never have a problem sitting on busses in Asia but even this time I can stretch my legs. I can’t imagine the discomfort that the western tourist have on their ass after ride on this bus. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0005%283%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="left" border="1" hspace="4" vspace="4" /></p>
<p>I arrive at the bus terminal near the border at 4.30 AM while the immigration office open at 6AM, so with butt hurt like hell and hardly get some sleep I sat around the bus terminal with some locals. Good things about the Nepalese is that they all very friendly there always some people around for you to talk to.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m quiet surprise that the Indian immigration didn&#8217;t even check my bag, the just take a look at my passport and visa and BAM..that its they put a stamp on passport. But the journey is not finish, I still need to take a public bus from Indian border to the nearest town before I can take a ride to Darjeeling. It was Monday morning so the bus was really full with locals trying to go the office and again I have to stand up for two hours. Most of the passenger were male and all of them love to chew tobacco. If you fancy of this tobacco naturally you need to spit every few minutes. And yep that what happen, almost every minutes they would open the window and spit (and I mean a real spit, that the spit that sound “cwuhh” but a spit that sound “ccwuuuahhh”). After two hours I arrive at town c</p>

<p>all Siliguri where I will take another (yes another bus) bus to Darjeeling for 4 hours. So in total in took me around 20 hours by bus from Nepal to Darjeeling.</p>
<p>The first thing that happen was this old men said some prayer to me (and off course expecting some donation) and then he put this red mark on my forehead for good fortune or also known as Tilaka in Hindi which define as the third eye or mind&#8217;s eye that strongly associated with spiritual enlightenment.</p>
<p>Finally I arrive at Darjeeling after more then 4 hours ride on a jeep. Before I come to Darjeeling, I read lots of people said that Darjeeling was one of their favorite place in India. But for me when I arrive I did not impress too much. Probably most people put Darjeeling in the middle or at the end of their visit in India where after spend weeks or months in the crowded, dusty, hot, and bustling traffic they finally can be up in the hilly mountain where the air is so fresh with less traffic and less dust. For me, after spend a month up in the Himalayan where every day and every step you take while trekking will bring you a perfect mountain and valley right before your eyes, so when I get to Darjeeling I was “oh so this is Darjeeling, well OK..”. It was like a small version of Namche Bazzar in Nepal I guess.<img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0069%281%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="middle" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" /></p>
<p>Because Darjeeling located right on the northern part of India near Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal so most people that live here was originally come form those places and no wonder Nepali still speak quiet often. The iconic landmark of Buddhist influence marked with a dozen of prayer flag hanged in all monastery. After spent three nights in Darjeeling I forget that I actually in India. The people look very much like Nepalese, they greet you in Nepali. And sadly for me the things that probably consistently indicating India were the beggars.</p>
<p>The town pretty much build on the steep ridge with Kangchendzonga (the worlds third highest mountain 8598m) dominating the background during clear day. <img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0097%282%29.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />The British use this town as a tea plantation and colonial house during 1800s. Up till now the left over from British architecture still dominating the city. Clock tower was one off my favorite along with lots of other churches.</p>
<p><img src="http://www.djarum-super.com/fileadmin/user_uploads/writingcontest/img/DSC_0024%282%29.jpg" alt="" align="left" border="1" hspace="5" vspace="5" />One of the main spot for hunting photograph of sunrise in Darjeeling was from Tiger Hill located 8km from the down town. During the first two day I woke at 4AM to catch the the sunrise but as went outside the mist still covered. I just wish I have more time to wait till the weather clear enough to get a nice view. At night it was really cold that I need to put on my sleeping and on the next day I decide its enough for me to stay up in the mountain, in the cold area. Its time for me to hits the lowland. So I drop the plan to go to Sikkim, town near Darjeeling that have a spectacular Himalayan view and rich encounter with the Buddhism.</p>
<p>But even though I only stay for three days in Darjeeling , I understand why many traveler love this place so much. The unique mixture of people, the harmony between Hindus and Buddhist went along side by side with its people, and the cold and fresh air that escape you from the India famous traffic and pollution. Darjeeling definitely a place you need to visit once you come to India.</p>
